Alan Jones was born and raised in Calgary Alberta and spent the majority of his life in the Calgary area except for a three-year period where he lived in the Okanagan Valley, British Columbia. Currently Alan resides in Cochrane Alberta.

Even as a little boy, Alan has loved the arts. He has a self-taught passion for painting & drawing. The majority of Alan's artwork media is watercolour and acrylic; however, he does babble a little in pastel, pencil & oil.

Many years ago Alan told his father that he wanted to be an Artist when he grew up. His father told him, "Once you have made a career for yourself, then you can become an Artist." Alan took his fathers advice. Now, after a 38-year career in the insurance industry, Alan sold his insurance brokerage and retired so that he could finally pursue his art career.

Alan's inspiration for his artwork has always been realism whether he is depicting scenes of nature, local life, classic cars and portraits.

Alan is a member of the Foothills Art Club, Alberta Escape Artists. Alan's artwork can also be seen at the Gust Gallery in Waterton Lakes National Park.
